Our day at Filoli

We enjoyed our day at Filoli Gardens near Redwood City

The house at Filoli was the house used in many movies including The Wedding Planner.

The grounds are gorgeous with several fountains and pools.

Flowers of all sorts throughout the grounds.

Here is a tree you might have found at Gilroy Gardens

Same pool seen above from the other end with the buildings in the background

The local staff create new flower arrangements from the local flora each Monday

I am Thankful for ...

fall with the crisp air and the beautiful colors of the season, but most of all I am grateful for this time of year as we pause and reflect on the many blessings we receive daily. I am grateful for the command to show gratitude and to count our many blessings.

I am extremely grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ and the knowledge I have of a Father in Heaven and a Savior who love me and want me to live with them again. This knowledge keeps me trying harder each day.

I am grateful for an extraordinary happy marriage. I have a wonderful husband who loves me and helps me be a better person. Life has been good to us. One of my BYU professors liked to refer to a happy marriage as one where the husband and wife have learned to dance well together. We have learned to dance well together!

I am grateful for my children and grandchildren. Nothing is sweeter in life than your posterity. I am grateful that my children married good people who are loving and kind. It is such a joy to watch my grandchildren learn and grow. I love receiving a phone call or a text message from one of these sweet little children.

As time goes on I become more grateful each day for life itself and the many freedoms I enjoy. I am grateful for the many opportunites I have to continue to learn. Now that life is not quite as crazy, hectic and busy, I take advantage of the time to reflect and appreciate the simple joys of life. I wish I would have taken the time to do this when I was a young mother. Life is too precious to miss the simple joys and the wonders of life.

I love to get out and enjoy the beauties of the earth. I am grateful for good health. I am thankful that I can go hiking, work in my yard and garden, and go for a daily walk. I am especially grateful to have a home to take care of.

I am grateful for good employment. I know there are many who do not have this blessing in their lives.

My cup runneth over with blessings. My list could go on and on. I hope you all take the time to reflect on the many blessings you receive each day. My love and gratitude are with you as you celebrate Thanksgiving. I wish we could all be together.

Our Hike at Mount Monadnock with Mike, Diane and Sophie

The view down the mountain. Not you father's typical climb. The elevation change was almost 1800 feet climbing boulders most of the way.

Taking a break about half way up the climb. Not a bad view either.

Sophie is hiding in the backpack.
At the top of the mountain. They call this "Every man's Everest". It will take a week to recover. :-)

A Bounteous Harvest

While I was hiding on the roof (cleaning the moss) mom did a pass at the garden. Look what she found.

Enough pumpkins for all of the grandkids to have their own. If only they were here to share.

Friend from the past

While in Utah dad and mom met Dave and Julie Allred for dinner at Zupas. After dinner we took this picture of dad and his former missionary companion/best man. It was fun having dinner with them and reminiscing and getting caught up on our children and life's activities.

may happenings

A week from completion!

We went to Charleston for Shawn's VA appt. and I took the kids to the beach.

Parker went "swimming"

Emmie explored the water and...

the sand.

Sand must taste pretty good-she probably ate a cup while we were there, but her hand kept going back to her mouth.

Grandpa's European Trip

While on my business trip to Europe I had a free morning on Friday so I went to downtown London and rode the London Eye. The Eye is a 450-foot ferris wheel on the South Bank of the London Thames also known as the Millennium Wheel. It gives a fabulous bird's eye view of London.

Big Ben viewed from the Eye.

A self portrait from the Eye.

The Parlament Building in London from the top of the Eye. Notice the reflections because the picture was taken from within the passenger capsule.

The London Eye from across the River Thames.

The side streets of Brussels. Chocolate shops. Yum Yum!!

All the happenings

Our sweet Valentine!!

Future home of 16 Carina Lane and the site of our new house-

Cool men doing all sorts of stunts- but see that little contraption in the boys hand- we almost had a melt down because we wouldn't spend 25 dollars on a toy he would play with for 3 days.

Elephants- Parker favorite part

Body benders

The circus

I wonder what he wished for?

Birthday boy

For mom- A purse I made. I was helping critique a pattern.

7 months old!

A day of warm weather=playtime outdoors

Superman and Batman cape. I think every little boy would want one of these. He's ready to take on the world.

Thanks for the superman lunchbox Grandma and Grandpa! It holds all sorts of things.

The little bit of snow we did have. Parker was in HEAVEN! I kept asking if he wanted to come inside and he would always tell me no.
